We are fourteen young wildlife filmmakers combining our skills to make an environmental and wildlife documentary, engaged and concerned about the preservation of a place in transition.

                The film

 

        Between land and sea, off the coast of Guinea-Bissau is the Bijagos archipelago. Composed by 88 islands, some have never been inhabited. The Bijogos, people of the archipelago, are animists : they give a spiritual position to the living and ensure harmonious coexistence with their environment. The flora and fauna are plentiful and well preserved because of a balanced and respectful management of the inhabitants.

Today, the archipelago evolves. Most of the Bijogos welcome these changes but this cultural transition is not without consequences for the environment. Minds are changing, and some people are trying to revise the old management of the environment, in the present context.

​

        The point of view of three protagonists will take you on a tour of the archipelago, its biosphere and its landscapes. They wonder about issues of cultural openness of preserved and landlocked places. Subtly nuanced, the film put on relief and asks the different managements of an exceptional environment that is is necessary to protect.

                A transmedia project

​

        We aim to share our exploration of the archipelago. The film focuses on the changes and disruptions that take place in the Bijagos. Since it can not entirely deal with the subject, we want to develop more media to offer a complete immersion in this exceptional place.
